Try it
- Play a sine wave and watch the smooth curve, then switch to square and compare the sharp edges.
- Push a signal until it clips and watch the top and bottom of the wave flatten.
- Play two tones close in pitch together and watch the beating pattern appear.
What to listen for
Clipping isn't just loud, it's a literal flattening of the wave you can see before you even hear the harshness. The beating pattern between two close pitches is the same thing you hear as a wobble.
