A scale-locked piano roll with timbres and an FX chain, so wrong notes are harder to hit and the melody you sketch already sounds like it belongs in a track.
Try it
- Pick a scale (try A minor) and program an 8-note melody using only the highlighted keys.
- Change the timbre from a pluck to a pad and hear how the same melody reads differently.
- Send the melody through the FX chain and adjust one send until it sits in the mix.
What to listen for
The same eight notes read as a hook with a pluck timbre and as a texture with a pad. Melody and timbre are not separate decisions, they shape each other.
